The Cosmic Egg
There is much healing that arises from yoga and meditation, and while I honor these for so much nourishment and growth in my life I also honor creativity. It is a desire that is intertwined in our DNA and archelogy shows how our ancestors used creativity to adapt to the changing world around them.
I believe that meditation can unlock worlds within ourselves and that through yogic practice and mindfulness we are capable of even deeper levels of creativity. We are granted an even more expansive world for creativity to flow.
Just as it is important to challenge yourself in asana (poses) in your yogic practice, it is also important to find new ways to challenge yourself creatively.
Multi-bubble turned Cosmic Egg!
I found a posting for the Multi-bubble online through WSU’s Shiftspace. It was a project for students as well as open to the community. There was a wild little seed of determination that was sparked within me, when creating the sculpture.
There is a learning curve when working with new materials, and a growth mindset is absolutely necessary. While this is can seem overwhelming at times, it is also such a satisfying feeling when finding the flow with materials. In order to construct and create it is a dynamic process between being fully present to move and navigate your limbs and fingers as well as opening a space for creativity and ideas to flow.
It was hilarious to see my partner Grant’s reaction to coming home to the yoga space/living room space being taken over my a giant inflatable sculpture. ha!
Something that I greatly appreciated about this project is the lesson in asking for help to help manifest things into reality. At one point in set up I physically was unable to finish the sculpture alone and was grateful for the lesson in asking for assistance from Grant. We don’t have to go it alone. When we are aligned in our passion and our purpose I believe people can feel that energy and are even more open to help assist you on our journey. All you have to do is ask.
Trying to navigate the world and figure it all out on one’s own I believe is a trauma response. It is something I have acknowledged in myself and am mindful of acknowledging and releasing.
Just as creativity is intertwined in our DNA, our desire and need for community is as well, all we have to do is foster that and embrace those aspects that already exist and channel them into our life.
Inspiration.
